La Kodansha et Production I.G ont annoncé ce vendredi qu’un nouvel anime basé sur le manga Ghost in the Shell de Masamune Shirow avait reçu le feu vert. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) et Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) co-dirigerons l’anime. Le format et la date de diffusion n’ont pas encore été révélés.

Kamiya avait teasé en septembre dernier qu’il souhaitait « annoncer » un nouvelle information concernant Ghost in the Shell « dans une futur proche » en réponse à un fan qui demandait s’il était possible qu’il y ait une saison 3 pour l’anime Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Kamiyama a dirigé les animes Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex et Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG ainsi que le film animé Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society. Il dirige actuellement un nouvel anime original intitulé Hirune Hime ~Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari~, tout en étant le directeur en chef du projet de film animé Cyborg 009 Call of Justice CG.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex est une série d’animation japonaise en 2 saisons de 26 épisodes chacune plus une OAV (Ghost in the Shell: SAC Solid State Society), souvent désignée simplement par l’acronyme GitS : SAC. L’univers de cette série est le même que celui du manga Ghost in the Shell créé par Masamune Shirow.
Le manga est édité par Glénat et l’anime était licencié chez Beez.
Le film Ghost in the Shell de Dreamworks et Paramount avec l’actrice Scarlett Johansson est sortie le 29 mars 2017 en France et en Belgique, le 31 mars 2017 aux États-Unis et au Canada et le 7 avril 2017 au Japon.
